Early accomplishments:

• 1959 - 1963, BA Sociology & Anthropology, Cornell University;

• 1963 - 1966, US Army officer stationed in Germany and Korea, discharged as a Captain;

• 1966 - 1969, Population/Family Planning Education advisor to Korea;

• 1969 - 1970, Masters in Public Health Education, UC Berkeley;

• 1970 - 1975, Family Planning consultant in Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal and Turkey with USAID, UN agencies, World Bank, Ford Foundation;

• 1975-1977, PhD program at University of Washington, advanced to candidacy;

In 1975 at the age of 34 Dave learned to juggle!

 

Since learning to juggle, Dave has:

• Personally taught over one million people to juggle, in over 2,000 schools and 30 camps in 41 states;

• Presented hundreds of in-service workshops for educators in 36 states;

• Presented workshops in Canada, Spain, Germany, England, France, Panama, Korea, Japan and the Philippines;

• Started JUGGLEBUG, leading manufacturer of juggling equipment, sold to Sportime in 1994;

• Written 40 songs and produced the JUGGLETIME™ video series, winning two Parent's Choice Awards;

• Started The Juggling Institute/Juggling for Success, worldwide networks of professional instructors;

• Published in 1984 The Complete Juggler, 575 page instruction book, the "bible" for juggling in 6 languages;

• Published in 1977 The Joy of Juggling, which has sold over 200,000 copies in English alone;

• Published in 1990 The Zen of Juggling, a spiritual and philosophical adventure story;

• Published in 2002 Juggling From Start to Star, Human Kinetics Press, coauthored with Dorothy and Ben Finnigan;

• Produced a prize-winning film, The Juggling Lesson, which appeared on Showtime nationwide;

• Written and produced a two hour advanced instructional video, Juggling Step by Step;

• Created the Juggle JAR winning a 1998 Early Childhood News Directors' Choice Award.

• Been featured in Money, Smithsonian, Ford Times and Sports Illustrated;

• Attended 1997 Project Zero at Harvard with Howard Gardner and David Perkins;

• Attended 1997 Kagan Cooperative Learning Workshop with Spencer Kagan;

• Taught the host to juggle on over two dozen television shows from Mike Douglas to Regis Philbin;

• Received the first Excellence in Education Award of the International Jugglers' Association in 1991.

• Received the Funny Face Award from National Clown Arts Council at Clownfest 2000

 

As a speaker Dave has been a presenter with over 200 organizations including:
